Kamloops athletes perform well at Legion Youth National Track and Field Championships #LegionNationals

KAMLOOPS THIS WEEK – August 13, 2013

Four Kamloops Track and Field Club athletes had notable performances at the Legion Youth National Track and Field Championships, which wrapped up in Langley on Sunday, Aug. 11.

Kendall Fitzgerald won silver in the midget girls’ 1,500m steeplechase and placed third in the 2,000m race.

Fitzgerald has the fastest midget girls’ 2,000m time this year in B.C.

Braden Derker won silver in pole vault and Alex Smith placed fifth. Both athletes are coached by Ryan Jensen.

Bryce Turner placed seventh in the midget boys’ 1,500m steeplechase and 12th in the 2,000m race.

Turner and Fitzgerald are coached by Bruno Mazzotta.

Call for Canadian Athletes’ Statistics, Testimonials and Pictures / Videos

The Royal Canadian Legion, producers of the Legion National Youth Track & Field Championships for the past 73 years, will hold the event August 2013 and again August 2014 in Langley, British Columbia. The Championships will be hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary of BC/Yukon Command.

As hosts, this year will see many new dimensions to the Championships with a pro-active promotional campaign.

The objective is to build a Championship alumni archive and they are looking for information, pictures, testimonials, quotes, videos and interesting stories from current and former members of the Legion Track & Field Clubs.
