BC Team Online Athlete Declaration Form Open

The 2014 BC Team Athlete Declaration form is now available! All athletes wishing to be considered for a BC Team, must submit an online athlete declaration to BC Athletics before the applicable deadline (see below). This year, the BC Team Athlete Declaration form will be completed through an online form. Athletes and Coaches will need to be aware of the following steps for submitting their BC Team Athlete Declaration as there are some slight changes this year.

STEP 1BC ATHLETE DECLARATION COACH SIGN-OFF. When submitting the online declaration form, athletes will also need to submit a copy of the BC Athlete Declaration Coach Sign-Off form. This form can be accessed by clicking on the link above (in blue), and attaching it to the online declaration form under Section 8 (recommended). Athletes can also submit this form by mail or fax by following the directions located on the bottom of the form.

STEP 2BC TEAM ATHLETE DECLARATION FORM (Online). This year, athletes will apply online using the BC Team Athlete Declaration Form. This form can be accessed by clicking the link above (in red). Under Section 8, athletes can attach a signed copy of the BC Athlete Declaration Coach Sign-Off form (recommended). This form is similar to previous years' forms.

PERFORMANCES
BC Athletics will track performances leading to final selection of the team. BC Athletics will only accept performances that are entered on the 2014 Athletics Canada Rankings. Performances for selection to teams must be on the Athletics Canada Rankings at the time of selection. If an athletes performance is not found on the Athletics Canada rankings, please contact Andrew Cameron at results@athletics.ca. You will need to provide him with the perfromance and a link to the results (for certification)

ONLINE FORM
BC Athletics has created this online form in an effort to make sure that no information is lost. Once you submit the online form, the information will come directly to BC Athletics. Submitting athletes will also be provided with a confirmation email sent to the email they have entered as their primary email. As this is the first time using the online form, please feel free to notify BC Athletics with any comments, questions or glitches.

SAVING THE FORM
Once an athlete starts to enter information into the form, they can save their progress by selecting the “Save” button at any time. The “Save” button can be found on the right hand side by scorlling to the bottom of the form. Once selected, you will be provided with a link that will contain your saved information for up to 14 days. After you have filled out the remaining information, you can then submit the form.

CHANGES TO INFORMATION
If an athlete has already submitted the form, and requires to make a change to any of the information, they can do so by contacting the Technical Manager for Track & Field at garrett.collier@bcathletics.org

BC Athletics has released the 2014 BC Team Selection Criteria & Standards for the following BC Teams:

2013-2014 BC Athletes Assistance Recommended List

BC Athletics has released for review the recommended list of athlete for BC Athletes Assistance (Carding) for 2013 – 2014. As always, the aim of BC Athletics and the BC Athletes Assistance program is to provide assistance to as many athletes as possible, with the funds available. From October 1, 2012 to September 30, 2013 the funding available was $46,320 which is equivalent to 64% of the maximum per athlete amount. This year, BC Athletics has recommended 38 athletes.

This list will be available for review and comment until Friday, February 7, 2014 at 5:00pm. A final list will be release no later than Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 5:00pm. If you have any questions or feedback, please provide it via email to the Technical Manager for Track & Field (Garrett Collier) at garrett.collier@bcathletics.org. For privacy reasons, BC Athletics will only respond to requests from athletes, coaches and parents.

BC ATHLETICS INTRODUCES THE BC ENDURANCE PROJECT (BCEP)

BURNABY, BC – The BC Endurance Project (BCEP) is a select group of high performance distance runners (5,000m to marathon) residing and training in the Vancouver area. The group is supported and funded by BC Athletics, the Canadian Sport Institute and viaSport.

Mission Statement

The BCEP strives to develop distance runners (5,000m to marathon) to achieve national and international performance standards. The specific goals of the project are: (1) podium performances at BC and Canadian Championships; (2) selection to Canadian National Teams; and (3) the pursuit of podium performances at International Competitions.

Head Coach

Richard Lee is the Head Coach of the BCEP. Richard is from Kincardine, ON and a graduate of Queen’s University in Kingston, ON. While attending at Queen’s, Richard took on the role of personal coach to his future spouse Sue. Under his guidance Sue qualified for both the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and the 1988 Seoul Olympics where she set Canadian records in both her heats as well as in the Final (finishing 8th place) in the 10,000m.

Since 2008, Richard’s focus has been on coaching post-collegiate athletes, helping them move to the next level of National Team and International Competition. This experience and focus has helped shape the current BCEP roster.

The fall racing season will conclude with the group taking on the best cross country runners Canada can provide at the 2013 Canadian Cross Country Championships at Jericho Park in Vancouver on November 30th. This should provide for some exciting racing on what amounts to be the BCEP's home course.

Forward any and all resolutions that you, your committee, or your club wish to have brought forth at the Annual General Meeting to the BC Athletics office by 5:00PM OCTOBER 6, 2013.

Resolutions received in the BC Athletics office by October 6, 2013 will be reviewed by the BC Athletics Executive/Board of Directors. Resolutions presented at the AGM will be posted on the BC Athletics website no later than 30 days prior to the AGM.

Resolutions received after October 6, 2013 can only be brought forth on the floor at the Annual General Meeting as recommendations to the Board of Directors unless ruled by the membership at the AGM to be an urgent matter.
