If conditions are favourable, multiple Canadian records could be under threat.
The first target is the quickest marathon ever run in Canada, 2:07:58, which several African athletes could attack for a $25,000 bonus in addition to the $20,000 the winner will receive.
Next in line will be Jermone Drayton's Canadian record of 2:10:09 that has stood for 38 years. Eric Gillis and Rob Watson have that target in mind, with a $38,000 bonus up for grabs if they can better it.
The women's Canadian All-Comers record stands at 2:22:43, with a $35,000 bonus on offer for breaking that time.
And finally Sylvia Ruegger's 1985 Canadian record of 2:28:36 could also be in danger. Lanni Marchant and Krista Duchene are favourites for that one, and would earn a $28,000 bonus for doing so.
In addition to Rob Watson, BC's Natasha Wodak and Marilyn Arsenault should feature.
Good luck to all.
