Clan women win; men finish fourth at Erik Anderson Invitational

The Simon Fraser University cross country teams were back in action on Saturday at the Erik Anderson Invitational.

In a field with some of the top teams from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and the California Collegiate Athletic Association, the Clan women finished first while the men finished fourth among Division II schools in the competition.

The women’s side finished second overall, finishing ahead of Division I competitors Gonzaga and Washington State.

Lindsey Butterworth (North Vancouver, BC) was the top finisher among Division II runners and finished fifth overall in a time of 21:59.09.

Kirstin Allen (London, ON) finished second among Division II runners and seventh overall in a time of 22:06.17.

On the men’s side, James Young (Surrey, BC) was the Clan’s top finisher, placing seventh among Division II competition in a time of 26:30.84.

Cameron Proceviat (Burnaby, BC) was close behind, rounding out the top 10 in a time of 26:37.11.

Allen’s performance earned her the Red Lion Athlete of the Week in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

And the women’s cross-country team was been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Team of the Week.
