The 2013 edition of the National Track League (NTL) wraps up in Victoria this Friday July 5 after successful stops in Halifax (June 9), Toronto (June 11), Edmonton (June 29), and Vancouver (July 1). The Victoria International Track Classic gets underway at the University of Victoria’s Centennial Stadium with the first field event at 5:00 p.m., and the first event on the track at 6:00 p.m. pacific time. You can catch all the action as it unfolds through FloTrack’s live streaming coverage.
In its 25th year the Victoria International will welcome 29 Olympians and ten 2013 World Championship Canadian team members. Most of these athletes are competing in Victoria with one goal in mind, secure an NTL championship in one of the ten series events to take home the championship trophy and $4,500 cash prize. Second place receives $2,500 while third place in each of the ten NTL events takes home $1,500.
Points are doubled for the final so a lot can still change in the Victoria Final. In some cases a top three finish or a win could be the difference between taking home $4,500 and leaving empty handed. First place will earn 16 points in the standings, second place 12 points, third 10 points and a fourth place finish in the final gets doubled to 8 points. In case of a tie in the standings the tie-breaker will be placing in Victoria.
