Browne and Skinner crowned BC 8K Champions

Returning to competition following the birth of her first child, Shauna Skinner won the BC 8K Championship held in conjunction with the Running Room Shaughnessy 8K, hosted by the Lions Gate Road Runners. Skinner won in 30:29 over top masters Tracy Wakaluk (30:53) and Helen Ritchie (31:18).

Nick Browne was also chased to victory by the top master, in his case VFAC teammate Mark Bennett. Browne won in 26:54 to Bennett’s 27:22. UBC student Evan Elder took third in 27:27.

One of the most hotly contested age groups was the M6569, with Ed Ansems (34:15) travelling down from Terrace to triumph over Terry Riggins (35:01) from Nanoose Bay, and North Vancouver’s Neil Wakelin (36:12).

The race was also #11 in the Timex BC Road Running Series (http://www.bcathletics.org/RRSeries/), and #5 in the Lower Mainland Road Race Series (http://www.lmrrs.com/).
