Who: William Sheel, Ph.D., Professor, School of Kinesiology, University of British Columbia

Description: The Scientific Basis of Elite Kenyan Runners – The excellence of runners from East Africa has been ongoing for several decades. In particular, elite runners from Kenya account for many of the top male and female running performances. This presentation will emphasize what is (and isn’t) known about the physiology of Kenyan runners.

Who: Jim Bailey, Australian Olympian

Description: On May 5, 1956 Mr. Bailey became the 6th person (1st on American soil) to run a sub 4-minute mile. Mr. Bailey ran for the University of Oregon and competed in the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne, AUS. He will be showing the video of his 1956 race, followed by a question and answer session.
