Clan sweep DMRs on day one of GNACs

Competing in their first ever Great Northwest Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship, the Simon Fraser University Clan track and field team came out of the gate on fire on Friday, winning both the men’s and women’s distance medley relays. The men’s team set a new GNAC record, the only GNAC record to fall on opening day. The two-day competition continues on Saturday, when the majority of finals will take place.

The men’s team of Brett Montrose, Ryan Brockerville, Travis Vugteveen and Adam Reid beat the nearest competition by over five seconds, posting a time of 10:05.58. Western Washington finished second in a time of 10:10.89, while Northwest Nazarene was third in a time of 10:18.42.

The women’s team of Jessica Smith, Emma Vogt, Helen Crofts, and Brianna Kane won the women’s distance medley relay with a time of 11:46.64, beating Western Washington by over six seconds.
