More than 100 young athletes, including 17 from Ocean Athletics, were on hand at South Surrey Athletic Park Saturday, competing in the 2010 B.C. Junior Development Pentathlon – a warm-up for next month’s JD Championships in Kamloops.
Saturday’s event, for athletes aged 9-13, saw competitors take part in five events – sprint hurdles, long jump, high jump, shotput and 800-metres – in a span of five hours. Results from each event are combined into a total score.
The best result for Ocean Athletics came in the 11-year-old girls age group, where Danielle Steer finished second overall and Jaime Sainte-Onge placed just off the podium, in fourth.
