Community Sport Hero Awards – Nominate someone in Burnaby!

Eligibility Requirements for nominating a Community Sport Hero®:

  • Be an individual from the local community who makes a voluntary contribution to sport through coaching, officiating, boards,  administration, special events, etc
  • Be an individual (not an organization or foundation); and
  • Has been or continues to be a dedicated sport volunteer for a minimum of 8 years

*UPDATED VENUE Run Jump Throw Community Workshop – Sat, April 17 in Langley

As the Sport BC Power of Sport Tour travels to Langley in April, so will Run Jump Throw. Starting things off is a RJT Community Workshop in Langley on Saturday, April 17th. The workshop will take place in the Willoughby Community Centre Rm #2 at the Langley Events Centre on 200th Street.

This 8 hour course includes how RJT fits in with general athletic development, the analysis of each skill and its technical progressions, the basic biomechanics of running, jumping and throwing, safety issues, RJT lesson plans, fun and games with RJT application and practical teaching and learning with kids!

After this fun filled day, you will be fully prepared to run your very own Run Jump Throw sessions with kids in your community.

44th Annual Sport BC Athlete of the Year Awards presented by TELUS Finalists Announced

Sport BC is proud to announce the finalists in 13 of the 19 award categories that will be presented at the upcoming 44th Annual Sport BC Athlete of the Year Awards, presented by TELUS which will take place on March 31, 2010.

Finalists for Award Categories from Athletics include:

Coach of the Year Finalist – Anatoliy Bondarchuk

High School Female Athlete of the Year Finalist - Lauren Stuart

High School Male Athlete of the Year Finalist – Django Lovett

Master Athlete of the Year Finalist – Olga Kotelko

Official of the Year Finalist – John Cull
