University of Victoria Vikes runners set three new school indoor records and narrowly missed a fourth at the Bison Classic in Winnipeg on Feb. 4-5.
Rookie Adam Gaudes set a new school record in the men’s 300-metre race with a time of 35.67, breaking the record of 35.94 jointly held by Robert Dolan and Brian Thomas.
The men’s 4×400-metre relay team of rookie Thomas Riva, Gaudes, John Pratt and Karl Robertson ran a time of three minutes 21.85 seconds to smash the old record of 3:24.89 set in 2007 by Brandon Green, Richard Lehman, Geoff Martinson and Darren Mazzei. The Vikes team won the event and move to the No. 2 ranking in the CIS for the men’s 4x400m.
Pratt finished third in the men’s 600-metre race with a time of one minute and 20.54 seconds and narrowly missed the existing school record of 1:20.21 set by Scott Kennedy in 2004.
Pratt moved to No. 8 in the latest CIS rankings for the event.
The women’s 4×400-metre relay team of of Kendra Pomfret, Maureen McCulligh, Shauna McInnis and Jenna Van Vliet set a new school record as well with a time of four minutes and 3.28 seconds.
