‘Emotional’ Jessica Smith wins spot as B.C. athlete on Olympic Track team
VANCOUVER — The weariness was evident in Jessica Smith’s voice on Monday, having arrived back in North Vancouver the night before from Calgary after the weekend’s drama-filled Canadian track and field Olympic trials.
“It’s been pretty emotional and physically draining for the last couple of days,” admitted Smith, who got the necessary top three finish in the women’s 800 metres, albeit by just 9/100ths of a second.
