BC Athletics and the Kamloops Track & Field Club are very pleased to formally introduce Bruno Mazzotta, Interior Regional Athletics Coach. Bruno, a past national and provincial team member, has been coaching with the Kamloops TFC for several years and took over the Regional Coach position with the departure of Jarett McLean.
Bruno’s coaching focus will be in the Middle Distance and Cross Country event areas where he will directly coach endurance athletes associated with the Kamloops Training Centre as well as work with the identified athletes and personal coaches in the Interior and Okanagan Regions. “We want to establish a hub for endurance running in Kamloops with outreach to Schools, Universities and Clubs throughout the Interior and Okanagan Regions,” said Brian McCalder, BC Athletics CEO. “Bruno has the experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to make it happen and we look forward to seeing this evolve. The great support and services provided through the Kamloops TFC, Cdn Sport Ctre – Pacific, PacificSport Interior, City of Kamloops and Government of British Columbia are greatly appreciated and make this possible,” concluded McCalder.
For Kamloops T&F Club President, Judy Armstrong, this is another piece in the whole Track & Field program that is critical to our ongoing success as a club, region, province and country. “The success of the National Throws Centre is a model we will use to build and develop endurance running here in the Interior and Okanagan Regions, regions rich with a history of athletes whose success nationally and internationally will serve as role models for developing and emerging athletes. With Bruno having gotten his start as an athlete here in Kamloops and then experiencing success at national and international levels of our sport means that he knows what is important for young athletes and what it takes to be successful. We are very happy that Bruno has taken on this position,” said Armstrong.
