Kamloops’ Dylan Armstrong annihilates Canadian Shot Put record

OTTAWA - Dylan Armstrong from Kamloops, British-Columbia finished 1st and smashed the Canadian shot put record today by 54 centimetres in Baunatal, Germany.  Armstrong’s massive heave of 21.58 metres surpasses the Canadian record he set of 21.04 metres in 2008 at the Beijing, Olympics where he placed 4th. Earlier this year Armstrong established a new Canadian indoor record at the World Indoor Championships throwing 21.39 metres.

Canadian track and field athletes are off to a strong week as earlier Tabia Charles of Pickering, Ontario set a new women’s triple jump record of 13.96 metres. 

On Friday Dylan, Perdita Felicien of Pickering, Ontario and Priscilla Lopes-Schliep from Whitby, Ontario will all be looking to put an exclamation mark on the week of competition as they all line up in the IAAF’s Oslo Diamond League competition.
